Fernley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They slipped by the Reed Raiders 38-37. That's more bragging rights for the Vaqueros, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Fernley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Tollestrup out in front who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance also gave Tollestrup a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (50%). Another player making a difference was Justice Martell- Artiaga, who posted seven points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Fernley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Fernley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-7 victory against Debbie Smith CTE Academy on the 2nd. As for Reed, they have also already played their next matchup, a 68-47 win against Carson on the 2nd.
