Softball Game Preview: Lathrop Spartans vs. Pacheco Panthers

The Lathrop Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Pacheco Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Lathrop came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-3 to Livingston. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Lathrop saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Stewart, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Meanwhile, Pacheco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss. They came up short against Beyer, falling 12-2.

Sasha Siemiller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Lathrop's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Pacheco, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.

Pacheco's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lathrop hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. It's a different story for Pacheco, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Lathrop's hitters?

Everything went Lathrop's way against Pacheco when the teams last played back in March, as Lathrop made off with a 10-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
