Basketball Recap: Andrew Wiley and Maddox Lee Secure Win for Cambridge Academy

Cambridge Academy entered their tilt with Wardlaw Academy on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They snuck past the Wardlaw Academy Patriots with a 65-60 win. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Patriots back in January, they had to take a 74-50 defeat.

Cambridge Academy was led to victory by Maddox Lee and Andrew Wiley. Lee almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine boards, while Wiley almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 17 rebounds, and nine blocks. The matchup was Lee's third in a row with at least ten points. Mac Price also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Cambridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Loss or not, Wardlaw Academy got some senior leadership from Colt Bailey and Noah Harper. Bailey almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds, while Harper posted 21 points. With that strong performance, Harper is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Josh Bussey, who had a point and ten boards.

Cambridge Academy pushed their record up to 6-13 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Wardlaw Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-13.

Cambridge Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-44 loss against Anderson Christian on the 4th. Wardlaw Academy has also already played their next matchup (against Newberry Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
