Soccer Game Preview: Gibson County vs. Dyer County

The Gibson County Pioneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Dyer County Choctaws at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gibson County will be strutting in after a victory while Dyer County will be coming in after a defeat.

Gibson County played against Liberty Tech Magnet on Thursday and won via forfeit.

Dyer County fell victim to Crockett County and their airtight defense on Friday. They lost 9-0 to the Cavaliers. While losing is never fun, Dyer County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Crockett County are ranked 55th).

Gibson County's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-7-2. As for Dyer County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9-3.

Gibson County might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from Dyer County in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
