Softball Game Preview: Gallia Academy Blue Devils vs. Southeastern Panthers

The Gallia Academy Blue Devils are taking a road trip to square off against the Southeastern Panthers at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Southeastern took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Gallia Academy, who comes in off a win.

Gallia Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over River Valley. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Blue Devils considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Colbie Nida spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chloe Bennett, who fired off four runs, three doubles, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ava Angel, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Meanwhile, Southeastern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Gibbs, falling 14-0.

Southeastern's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Gallia Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Southeastern's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gallia Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Southeastern, though, as they've only averaged .148. Will they be able to contain Gallia Academy's hitters?

Gallia Academy beat Southeastern 11-6 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gallia Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
