Basketball Game Preview: East Nicolaus Spartans vs. Marysville Indians

The East Nicolaus Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Marysville Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

East Nicolaus is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 65 points on Friday, they were much more limited against Redding Christian on Saturday. They were beaten by the Lions 49-22. The matchup marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Marysville entered their tilt with Las Plumas on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Thunderbirds 69-48. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Marysville's win came from a few key players East Nicolaus will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dennis Syders, who went 6 of 8 en route to 14 points along with eight assists and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chevy Cadena, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Marysville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for East Nicolaus, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

East Nicolaus was dealt a bruising 85-11 loss at the hands of Marysville in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can East Nicolaus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
