Despite the loss, Langtree Charter Academy had strong showings from Jerel Brawley, who posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals, and Ashton Munters, who went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points. That's the most points Munters has posted since back in December of 2024. Arbrey Hoyle was another key player, putting up seven points.
Even though they lost, Langtree Charter Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lincoln Charter beat Mountain Island Charter 90-86 on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Raptors are ranked 388th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Langtree Charter Academy better keep an eye on David Reed IV. He was instrumental in Lincoln Charter's win, dropping a double-double with 28 points and 20 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Sylas Coleman, who went 7-for-13 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds.
Lincoln Charter pushed their record up to 16-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.9 points over those games. As for Langtree Charter Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-17.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Langtree Charter Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28 boards per game. However, it's not like Lincoln Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Langtree Charter Academy was taken down by Lincoln Charter 83-31 when the teams last played back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Langtree Charter Academy was down 63-22.
