Gillespie hadn't done well against Lincolnwood recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Miners came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lancers, sneaking past 2-1. This was payback for the Miners, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Gillespie had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Lincolnwood's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Camryn Poggenpohl, who had 15 digs and two assists, and Ava Walton, who had nine digs. Poggenpohl is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.

The victory made it two in a row for Gillespie and bumps their season record up to 5-9. As for Lincolnwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gillespie will take on Carlinville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincolnwood, they will challenge Bunker Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
