It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Godley had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Carter Cowboys as they made off with a 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jackson Duke looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ryder Papasan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Crosby Carmichael was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Godley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Carter, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 9-14 record.
