Baseball Recap: Midland Takes a Loss

Midland extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-5. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Starmont Stars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since June 30, 2025.

As for Starmont, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.

For Starmont's part, their victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Elliot Francois, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Wyatt Opitz was another, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Midland will venture away from home to square off against Easton Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Starmont, they will head out to face off against Sumner-Fredericksburg at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
