Basketball Recap: Fuquay - Varina Piles Up the Points Against Corinth Holders

A well-balanced attack led Fuquay - Varina over Corinth Holders in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Fuquay - Varina Bengals blew the Corinth Holders Pirates out of the water with a 65-36 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bengals had established a 27 point advantage.

It was another big night for Abdou Diop, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate George, who posted nine points.

Fuquay - Varina was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corinth Holders only posted six assists.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Neal, who had six points. James Hemby was another key player, putting up four points and five rebounds.

Fuquay - Varina picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Corinth Holders, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Fuquay - Varina wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 79-56 loss against Willow Spring on the 13th. As for Corinth Holders, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-37 defeat against Southern Nash on the 13th.
