Softball Game Preview: Concordia Fighting Orioles vs. Warsaw Wildcats

Concordia has won five straight games at home, while Warsaw has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Fighting Orioles will host the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Concordia had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Tipton on Monday. The Fighting Orioles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 14-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Fighting Orioles considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Olivia Hemme was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Karleigh Wilckens was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Ava Mueller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Concordia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tipton only posted an OBP of .176.

Meanwhile, Warsaw put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's sixth consecutive shutout on Saturday. Everything went their way against El Dorado Springs as they made off with a 15-0 win.

Concordia's victory bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Warsaw, their win bumped their record up to 17-1.
