Basketball Recap: Newark Skates Past Lamoille with Ease

Newark entered their tilt with LaMoille on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They really took it to the Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-37 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-17.

Newark's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cody Kulbartz led the charge by dropping a double-double with 18 points and 18 rebounds. Kulbartz is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reggie Chapman, who shot 53% from the field en route to 20 points along with six assists and five steals.

Newark smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Newark's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for LaMoille, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newark will be home for the holidays to greet Somonauk at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for LaMoille, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Amboy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Lions will be up against the Clippers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
