Softball Recap: Ledyard Gets the Win

Ledyard owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against the St. Bernard Saints by a score of 5-0. The win continues a trend for the Colonels in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won four in a row.

Alexia Lemmon was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Faith Dalton, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

Ledyard's record is now 6-3. As for St. Bernard, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Ledyard will head out to take on East Lyme at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Colonels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for St. Bernard, they will venture away from home to square off against Nonnewaug at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Saints will need to watch out since the Chiefs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
