Preview: Fannindel Falcons vs. Dodd City Hornets
Fannindel is 1-9 against Dodd City since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fannindel Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Dodd City Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Fannindel is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Fannindel fought the good fight in their overtime match against Christian Home Educators on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.
Edgar Lopez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 13 points. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points.
Dodd City has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 23 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Wolfe City 68-35 at home. Given Dodd City's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 496th, while Wolfe City is ranked 1229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fannindel's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Dodd City, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Fannindel took a serious blow against Dodd City when the teams last played back in January, falling 70-35. Can Fannindel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
