Baseball Recap: Cheraw Beats Darlington for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Cheraw had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Monday. They blew past the Darlington Falcons 12-1. Considering the Braves have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Will Quick was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Demaris Ellerbe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Cheraw always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Cheraw pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Darlington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Cheraw will take on Gray Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The War Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Darlington, they will face off against Marlboro County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
