Baseball Recap: Normal Community Picks Up 12th Consecutive Win

Normal Community barely beat East Moline United the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Ironmen put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-3 win on Saturday. The Ironmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jacob Engel looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Drew Stevens was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Kyle Beaty was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The victory was the 12th in a row for Normal Community, bringing their record up to 26-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Moline United, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 18-10 record.

Coming up, Normal Community will host Bloomington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for East Moline United, they will head out to face off against Moline at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
