Basketball Preview: Christ Covenant Spartan vs. New Bern Christian Academy
The Christ Covenant Spartan will head out on the road to face off against New Bern Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Christ Covenant has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Thursday, Christ Covenant didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Chargers, but they still walked away with a 51-45 victory.
Meanwhile, New Bern Christian Academy stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Liberty Christian Academy 51-30. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to post 12 more assists than your opponent, as New Bern Christian Academy did.
New Bern Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Alli Anderson, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Huffman, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Christ Covenant's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for New Bern Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
Everything went Christ Covenant's way against the when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the Spartan made off with a 55-32 victory. Will Christ Covenant repeat their success, or do the have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
