Baseball Game Preview: Waterloo East Trojans vs. Jefferson Hawks

The Waterloo East Trojans will face off against the Jefferson Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Waterloo East has five straight wins, Jefferson has 23 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Waterloo East's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Des Moines North 10-0. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly ten runs.

Meanwhile, Jefferson lost 18-2 to Kennedy on Friday.

Waterloo East's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-12. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-25.

Waterloo East skirted past Jefferson 6-5 in their previous matchup back in July of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
