Baseball Recap: Lake Gibson Comes Up Short

After flying high against Zephyrhills last Thursday, Lake Gibson came back down to earth. The Lake Gibson Braves took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Frostproof Bulldogs on Friday. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Najee Jiles was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dalton Cone, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Lake Gibson's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Frostproof, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Gibson will welcome Mulberry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Frostproof, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lake Placid at 7:30 p.m.
