Gunnison falls despite big games from Sienna Gomez and Kylee McDougal

Recap: Gunnison Cowboys vs. Cedaredge Bruins

The Gunnison Cowboys struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Cedaredge Bruins had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Gunnison fell 29-22 to Cedaredge. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gunnison has scored all season.

Gunnison's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kylee McDougal, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, and Sienna Gomez who scored nine points along with five rebounds. McDougal has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Vincent, who scored two points along with five rebounds.

Cedaredge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Hanson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Hanson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Carley Malinowski was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Gunnison has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Cedaredge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Gunnison's road trip will continue as they head out to face Meeker at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Gunnison is facing Meeker at the right time seeing as Meeker is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cedaredge, they will head out on the road to challenge Grand Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Grand Valley will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Cedaredge surely won't give up without a fight.
