Softball Recap: Carmi-White County Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Carmi-White County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Hamilton County Foxes 16-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since April 28, 2025.

Carmi-White County let Addi Elliott and Caroline Simmons run wild. Elliott went 4-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Simmons went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those four runs gave Elliott a new career-high. Sophie Walker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Carmi-White County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Carmi-White County's victory bumped their record up to 9-19. As for Hamilton County, they moved to 15-15 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Carmi-White County will venture away from home to square off against Benton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hamilton County, they will head out to take on Pinckneyville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
