Football Game Preview: Tri-Village Patriots vs. Portsmouth West Senators

The Tri-Village Patriots will square off against the Portsmouth West Senators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Tri-Village's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over Arcanum. The Patriots' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Staley Colston continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 109 yards and one TD on only 12 carries. Trey Sagester was another key player, rushing for 35 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tri-Village was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 380 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Portsmouth West rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the Silver Knights as they made off with a 30-6 win.

Tri-Village better keep an eye on Anthony Bishop. He was instrumental in Portsmouth West's win, rushing for 297 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Those 297 rushing yards gave Bishop a new career-high. Portsmouth West also got a significant boost from Westyn Ratcliff, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

Tri-Village's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Portsmouth West, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Tri-Village has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 228.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Portsmouth West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 173.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
