Baseball Recap: Merced Comes Up Short

After flying high against Buhach Colony two weeks ago, Merced came back down to earth. The Bears fell 10-5 to the San Luis Obispo Tigers on Friday.

Merced saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Speidel, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Merced has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for San Luis Obispo, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Merced will be playing in front of their home fans against Westlake at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for San Luis Obispo, they will welcome Pitman at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers are facing the Pride at the right time seeing as the Pride are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
