Baseball Recap: Great Falls Drops Season-High Score on York Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Great Falls). Everything went their way against the York Prep Patriots on Wednesday as the Great Falls Red Devils made off with a 20-9 victory. While the Red Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Trenton Trotter, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Great Falls' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Colton Evans, who scored two runs while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

Great Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Great Falls has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. York Prep now has a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Great Falls will square off against Lamar at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Great Falls is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season. As for York Prep, they will challenge Lewisville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. York Prep has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
