Softball Recap: Waterloo Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Waterloo entered their tilt with Geneva on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 14-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Gwen DiIorio made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Panek Ava, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tangel Williams, who went 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.

Waterloo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Waterloo's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Geneva, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waterloo will welcome Newark at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Geneva, they will take on Midlakes at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
