Baseball Game Preview: Mooresville Blue Devils vs. Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls

Mooresville is 2-8 against Hickory Ridge since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mooresville Blue Devils will host the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls at 6:30 p.m. Mooresville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Mooresville didn't have quite enough to beat West Iredell and fell 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by just one run.

Luke Modrak made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Mooresville: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Cole Harvey was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hickory Ridge's hitters rose to the challenge against a Cougars pitching crew that boasted an average of only 4.1 runs allowed on Wednesday. Hickory Ridge skirted past Carson 13-11. The win continues a trend for the Ragin' Bulls in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

This is the second loss in a row for Mooresville and nudges their season record down to 5-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Hickory Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
