Basketball Recap: Clairemont's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Clairemont fought the good fight in their overtime game against Mount Miguel on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 76-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mount Miguel Matadors. The Chieftains haven't had much luck with the Matadors recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Clairemont lost, don't look at Grant Rine. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 21 on his way to 24 points in addition to six assists and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Daudet, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Clairemont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Miguel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamell Willey, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerome Radcliff, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 19 points.

Clairemont's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6. As for Mount Miguel, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Clairemont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 76-54 defeat against Granite Hills on the 3rd. As for Mount Miguel, they will host Bonita Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bonita Vista has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
