Baseball Recap: Bishop Carroll Takes a Loss

Bishop Carroll extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They came up short against the Blacklick Valley Vikings, falling 14-0. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Blacklick Valley, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.

For Blacklick Valley's part, Eli Sheesley was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Sheesley has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drew McEvoy, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Greg Schilling, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Carroll will venture away from home to take on Clearfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Blacklick Valley, they will head out to square off against Rockwood at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
