Softball Recap: Walker Valley Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Walker Valley had won four straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped their record up to 30-8 to make it five. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Ooltewah Owls. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Olivia Presswood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Vanessa Byers and Alyssa Davenport did most of the damage at the plate: Byers went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Davenport went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Davenport has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Morgan Rice, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Ooltewah, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 27-9 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On Ooltewah's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jaeda Tucker gave up just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Ooltewah saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylin Leblanc, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Walker Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 1-0 win against East Hamilton on the 14th. Ooltewah does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
