Volleyball Recap: Yucaipa Gets the Win + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Redlands, Yucaipa was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They skirted past the Cajon Cowboys 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won six in a row.

In the three sets Yucaipa was on fire: they won each by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-0, 0-25, 0-25, 25-0, 15-4.

Yucaipa found their leader in sophomore Tana Mead, who had six digs and six aces. Those six aces set a new season-high mark for Mead. Remedy Valadez also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Yucaipa was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cajon only served nine.

Cajon's loss came despite strong showings from Sayra Corona and Arhiana Pena (Student). Corona had 31 assists and five digs, while Pena (Student) had 20 digs and two aces. Corona has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last nine times she's played.

Yucaipa's victory bumped their record up to 12-15. As for Cajon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Yucaipa has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Citrus Valley on the 7th. As for Cajon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Beaumont on the 7th.
