Football Recap: Hillcrest Piles Up the Points Against Hemet

After losing to Hemet the last time they met, Hillcrest decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Trojans breezed past the Bulldogs to the tune of 42-14 on Friday. With the Trojans ahead 35-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Hillcrest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reyez Ortiz led the charge by rushing for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Ortiz's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 109 rushing yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Matthew Ramos, who threw for 157 yards and three TDs on only 11 passes.

The win (which was Hillcrest's third in a row) raised their record to 4-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.0 points over those games. As for Hemet, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hillcrest will take on rival Poly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hemet is set to challenge their familiar foe Valley View at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
