Bishop Amat hasn't had much luck against South Hills recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Lancers will take on the Huskies at 8:00 a.m. Bishop Amat has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bishop Amat gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Paraclete by a score of 18-13. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lancers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Aiyana Perez was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-5. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Jasleen Calderon also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Perez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Bishop Amat kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 25 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Hills, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Alta Loma on Friday.
The team relied heavily on Katelyn Saguin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. Jayden Garcia was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Bishop Amat's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-11. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for South Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bishop Amat hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .422. However, it's not like South Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .408. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bishop Amat came up short against South Hills in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 8-4. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
