Baseball Recap: Auburn Victorious

The matchup between Auburn and Mary G. Montgomery on Saturday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Tigers came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 11-8. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Max Autrey looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Bryson Sheppard and Wilson Foster did most of the damage at the plate: Sheppard went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Foster got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Foster a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dean Murray, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Auburn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mary G. Montgomery only managed six.

Auburn's record is now 18-8. As for Mary G. Montgomery, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.

Auburn will head out on the road to square off against Saraland at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mary G. Montgomery, they will venture away from home to face off against Spanish Fort at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
