Basketball Game Preview: Rutland Hurricanes vs. Pike County Pirates

Rutland is on a four-game streak of home losses, Pike County a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Rutland came up short against Callaway and fell 52-43.

Meanwhile, Pike County also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Rock Springs Christian Academy by a score of 65-57. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while Rock Springs Christian Academy are ranked 216th).

Pike County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Rutland, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Rutland was able to grind out a solid win over Pike County in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, winning 51-40. Will Rutland repeat their success, or does Pike County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
