Football Recap: Eli Mccormick Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Columbia City

DeKalb lost to Columbia City back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Barons put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 28-7 victory. The Barons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DeKalb to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli McCormick, who threw for 326 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Those 326 passing yards gave McCormick a new career-high. Xavier Bell was in the mix as well, providing DeKalb with two scores.

DeKalb's run defense was locked in: Columbia City could only muster 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Drake Hall for the heroic effort on defense: he. DeKalb's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.4.

DeKalb's defense didn't let Gabe McDevitt, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Austin Kirkpatrick.

DeKalb now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Columbia City, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.
