Baseball Recap: Winnfield's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Many, Winnfield was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Saline Bobcats. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Keegan Compton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Dalton Powell was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nickalas Mockosher, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Winnfield's victory bumped their record up to 5-23-1. As for Saline, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Winnfield will take on Mansfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Saline, they will square off against Claiborne Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
