Football Recap: Shepherd Skates Past Roundup with Ease + How To Watch

After low-scoring totals in their previous four matchup, Shepherd brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 56-0 win over the Roundup Panthers. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Shepherd was led to victory by Ryder Neely and Caleb Nicholson. Neely rushed for 137 yards and one TD on only eight carries, while Nicholson threw for 91 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Nicholson a new career-high in passer rating (151.6). Another player making a difference was Karson Gamradt, who picked up 60 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Shepherd was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 271 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive contests.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Shepherd's defense and their four sacks. Jaxon Fields refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Shepherd's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Roundup, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Shepherd will take on Joliet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The J Hawks' defense has only allowed ten points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Roundup, they will square off against Colstrip at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Colts' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
