Recap: Orange County Fighting Hornets vs. Madison County Mountaineers
Even though the Orange County Fighting Hornets have not done well against the Madison County Mountaineers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Orange County blew past Madison County 63-34 at home. For Orange County, this counts as revenge for the 60-49 defeat Madison County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Orange County can attribute much of their success to Laney Fayard, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Janiyah Hackley, who scored 11 points.
Several Mountaineers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Annie Herrman, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds. Ava Hettinger was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Orange County's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Madison County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Orange County will be playing in front of their home fans against Courtland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison County, they will head out on the road to face off against William Monroe at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
