Recap: Rising Sun Tigers vs. Sparrows Point Pointers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Rising Sun Tigers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 13-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sparrows Point on Thursday. Rising Sun just can't catch a break and has now endured six defeats in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sparrows Point to victory, but perhaps none more so than Javier Guevara, who threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Sparrows Point also got help from Anthony Morris who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.
Rising Sun's defeat was their fourth straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 1-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Patterson Mill and 7-2 Perryville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 76.1% over those games). As for Sparrows Point, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Rising Sun does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sparrows Point will face off against North East at TBD on Friday.
