Recap: Excel Christian Warriors vs. Whittell Warriors
The Excel Christian Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Whittell 63-24 on the road. Excel Christian pushed the score to 53-21 by the end of the third, a deficit Whittell had no chance of recovering from.
Mark Doerfler continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 35 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Whittell's loss came despite strong showings from Rocky Laremore and Evander Lezama-Demazo. Laremore scored seven points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Lezama-Demazo scored three points along with four blocks and three steals.
The victory got Excel Christian back to even at 10-10. As for Whittell, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excel Christian will square off against Pyramid Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pyramid Lake is coming into the matchup with three straight defeats at home, meaning Excel Christian will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Whittell, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sage Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th.
