Basketball Recap: Milan Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Milan entered their tilt with Polo on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 38-20 victory over the Polo Panthers. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 43-30 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Milan was led to victory by Amy Pickering and Marian Dabney. Pickering went 6 for 13 on her way to 13 points and six steals, while Dabney posted 12 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Pickering has scored at least a third of Milan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Pauley, who had six points.

Milan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Milan's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Polo, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Milan and Atlanta will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Polo, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Polo Panthers take on the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on February 13, 2025.
