Baseball Game Preview: Berkeley Yellowjackets vs. Bishop O'Dowd Dragons

The Berkeley Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berkeley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Berkeley made easy work of Piedmont and carried off a 12-1 win. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Enrique Sotelo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Miles Mino was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ethan Walker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.

Berkeley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Hornets. The game was the first time the Dragons have beaten the Hornets on their field since May 1, 2024.

Berkeley's record now sits at 17-4-1. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their record is now 15-7.
