Softball Recap: Houston Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Houston's offense. They lost 6-0 to the Arcanum Trojans on Saturday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Makenna Vondenhuevel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Arcanum, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Houston will head out to face off against Riverside at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arcanum, they will host Northwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
