Softball Recap: Dunbar Comes Up Short

Dunbar had taken Eastern Hills down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Dunbar Wildcats came up short against the Eastern Hills Highlanders, falling 24-14. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Taylor Valentine stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tajzianna Hunter, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Dunbar and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Eastern Hills, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Dunbar Wildcats face off against Benbrook Bobcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dunbar will need to watch out since Benbrook has now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Eastern Hills, they are taking a road trip to square off against Diamond Hill-Jarvis at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
