Baseball Game Preview: Edison Tech Inventors vs. School of the Arts Silverhawks

The Edison Tech Inventors will head out to face off against the School of the Arts Silverhawks at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Edison Tech's victory against Franklin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Inventors narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 7-6. The victory continues a trend for the Inventors in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, School of the Arts got the win against Wilson Magnet on Monday by a conclusive 11-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Silverhawks.

Bennie Laver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Paul Alex Stevens II was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Henry Hawkinson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two triples and one stolen base.

School of the Arts always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Edison Tech's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for School of the Arts, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Edison Tech couldn't quite finish off School of the Arts when the teams last played two weeks ago and fell 9-7. Can the Inventors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
