Baseball Recap: Colton Comes Up Short

If Colton was feeling good fresh off their 19-9 takedown of St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats came up short against the Genesee Bulldogs on Monday, falling 20-6. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Tanner Baerlocher made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dakota Cook, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Colton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Genesee, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colton will venture away from home to square off against Waitsburg/Prescott at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Genesee, they will head out to take on Kendrick at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
