Baseball Game Preview: Dundee-Crown Chargers vs. Cary-Grove Trojans

For the second straight game, Dundee-Crown will face off against Cary-Grove. The Chargers will host the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Dundee-Crown has struggled recently with 11 defeats in a row, while Cary-Grove will arrive with three straight wins.

Cary-Grove hit Dundee-Crown with a four-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers lost 11-1 to the Trojans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chargers have suffered against the Trojans since April 4, 2022.

For Cary-Grove's part, Charlie Taczy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Taczy has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jacob Duvall was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Ricky Barnes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
