Softball Game Preview: Centerville Bulldogs vs. Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles

The Centerville Bulldogs will challenge the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Centerville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

Centerville's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Union County as they made off with a 6-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Madi Yount was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Lilly Day was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Hannah Beaman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Cambridge City Lincoln's offense. They came up short against Hagerstown on Monday, falling 11-0. The Golden Eagles haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Cambridge City Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Centerville, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Centerville skirted past Cambridge City Lincoln 2-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
