Baseball Game Preview: Saugerties Sawyers vs. Wallkill Panthers

Saugerties hasn't had much luck against Wallkill recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sawyers will host the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Saugerties has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Saugerties' win against Hudson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Sawyers skirted past the Bluehawks 5-3. The Sawyers haven't had any issues with the Bluehawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Roosevelt hit Wallkill with a eight-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers lost 12-2 to the Presidents.

Mason Franklin made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was J.J. Detz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

Saugerties' win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Wallkill, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Everything went Saugerties' way against Wallkill when the teams last played back in April, as Saugerties made off with a 15-0 victory. Will the Sawyers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
